Toyota Hilux is a compact series of trucks which is both marketed and produced by Japanese Corporation Toyota. Hilux name has been popularized and used by many countries for lifetime but in North America the name was retired and the name Pick-Up Trucks, Trucks or Comapct Trucks took its place. Sports Rally 5-Speed or SR5 became the model made for Truck and was popularized for option package.
New Version of Hilux:
Trekken; the camper versionof Hilux was later renamed in North America and Austrailia as 4-runner and in Japan as Hilux Surf. Tacoma was introduced by Toyota in 1995 in North America thus discounting the name of Pick-up Hilux. Tacoma does not resemble any former models presently. In 2013 Toyota updated its model to Hilux ‘Champ’ in Thailand with upgraded featuressuch as 5-speed transmission and 171 HP performance along with 360 Nm torque. Other changes like addition of center and rear cab seats as well as efficient fuel system was also included.
