Toyota Celica: Features You Will Love

The Revisions Made to the Toyota Celica Since its Launch

Toyota, the Japanese company, manufactured a number of coupes by the name Celica, which is derived from coelica, a Latin word, meaning celestial or heavenly. Toyota Corolla store from the Toyota Japanese dealerships was the exclusive dealer of the Toyota Celica in the markets of Japan.

This model has undergone many revisions throughout its life, being powered by several 4-cylinder engines.

August, 1985 saw the most considerable change in the car with the change of the drive layout to a front wheel drive from the rear wheel drive.

American versions of the Celicas were motorized by different versions of the R-Series engine from Toyota during its first 3 generations in the market.

The turbocharged model of the car with a 4-wheel drive, manufactured during 1986-1999, was nominated as an All-trac in the US market and as GT-four elsewhere.

Variable Valve Timing was introduced to the car in the Japanese models during the late 1997 period, which was adopted as a standard in all its models from the year 2000.

Available as liftback & notchback coupes and as convertible, this model has undergone many modifications including the famous one Toyota Celica Supra, renamed as the Toyota Supra later on.
