Tata Safari: Driving Tips

Tata safari is the first SUV produced by well known manufacturers, Tata motors in India. It is initially designed, manufactured and developed in India in a complete way. This SUV was released in the year 1998 with a 2.0 litre turbo and 1.4 diesel engines. Later, it was upgraded in the year 2003 as an improved version with EX and EX2 with limited edition. Those editions were rotated all over with enhanced interiors and mechanical parts like power steering, electrical and fuel lamp. By extreme, the models of TCIC EX2 were most preferred and reliable models of 2003 to 2006 with TCIC safari.

Engine and performance

It was completely changed in August 2005, by including new additions like a 3 litre DiCOR engine with some of changed exteriors and interiors to it. This new 3 liter engine is considered as the first diesel engine automobile from Tata motors with some general rail technology applied in it. And in addition to it, a 2 liter petrol engines was also included to it to the range in the same year. Later this modified version won the award of Motor Forum’s Car of the year for 2007 in SUV group. It is voted as top by the users of India and right now it is in competition with its rivals like Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V and Land Rover Freelander.

Further improvement

In the 2007 October, Tata exposed the new 2.2 liter safari DiCOR with an increased power output of 105 KW. And later it was quickly replaced with more advanced DiCOR 2.2 Variable Turbine Technology engine which had a power production of 140 PS at the rate of 4000rpm and a torque production of 320 N.m at the rate of 1700 rpm. And in fact, it is regarded widely as the best engine utilized by Tata Motors.

Posh interiors and exteriors

Recently, Tata launched a complete new version in Safari named Safari GX which is just below the present top variant Safari VX. This new model has got dual tone exteriors, luxurious fabric upholstery with unique leather, reverse guide system. You find internal rear view mirror only in Safari VX variant but not in this. And the other new and interesting features are the indicators on the Outer Rear view mirrors for better vision.
