In the year 1965 and 1966 the Shelby American introduced two GT models that are GT350 and GT500; these cars were considered the lightest cars of GT models. The car was handled by Ford and Shelby, where ford done the previous work and sent it to Shelby for further innovative additions. Ford was actual creator of outer body of the car that was delivered to Shelby in their production plant in Venise Beach where the Shelby designers work on it and provides it magnificent designs. Later the production plant was shift to Los Angeles. Some significant modification works was done by A.O. Smith.

Connection with Cobra Emblem

Since the car was equipped with powerful centred AC with two seats they are known as Cobras. Shelby GT500 was part of Cobra cars since it includes same features as cobra known special cars such as paint options, valve covers, which was one of the signs of Shelby. It features powerful engine K-code 202 kW that produces 271 hp & 275 PS with a power engine of 4.7 L, it was later modify and transformed in more powerful engine and the new improved engine was 228 kW that produce 306 hp & 310 PS, the engine was based on high-riser intake manifold. After primary work the cars were delivered to Shelby American's factory where its engineers made modifications and made it perfect for cobra lovers, they made significant changes like rear wheels were changed from normal to Ford Galaxie heavy-duty axle rear, high risk manifolds, improvements in brakes after adding Kelsey-Hayes disc-brakes.

Shelby American Leave Everything on Ford

Shelby GT 500 was designed to provide comfort to regular drivers since they have added significant features such as comfortable rear seats, a range of paint options as well as automatic transmission. They have continued the process of modifications and as a result Shelby GT500 became bigger, comfortable and more famous that results in zero competition with its rivals. Until 1969 the car has reached to its peak with best features and zero competition. In 1969, the Shelby American has taken a step back and declared that they have nothing to do with Shelby GT500 series cars. After that, the whole production procedure was managed by Ford itself in its own production factories.
