Also pronounced as Nuenelfer in German; Porsche 911 is presently the flagship for Porsche automobiles. The model has been designed as a grand tourer of two-door by AG Porsche in Stuttgart, situated in Germany. It bears a certain mark of difference from the rest of its competitors due to its distinctive design, rear suspension which is independent in nature, rear-engine. With the introduction of its model from the year 1963, Porsche had undergone a series of development but the basic concept yet remains very much the same. Before the evolution of Type 996 in the year 1998, the engine was previously air-cooled.

During its course of lifetime, the Porsche 911 has been subjected and modified by factory as well as private teams in the course for automobile competition such as rallying, racing and so on. The model has also achieved the tag of being one of the successful cars for completion ever. In the mid-year of 1970 Carrera RSRs with 911 secured major race competition as in Daytona, Nurburging, Targa Floria and Sebring. The version of 935 turbo in the model of 911 also secured the prize of Coveted 24 hours of Le Mans in the year 1979. 911 secured fifth rank in the Car Awards under international poll. It has been one of those cars that has always been in production and secured its rank always under top five and even achieved the tag of being the best surviving application working in air during the year of 1998. In the year 2013, the model had celebrated its 50th anniversary marking the sales of 820,000 globally.
