Opel Agila: Is It Worth The Money?

The German-made Opel Agila is a city car that has been in the auto market since the year 2000 as a renamed variant of the first generation Suzuki Wagon R and the second generation Suzuki Splash. The name ‘Agile’ was derived from the Latin word ‘Agilis’. In the United Kingdom, it has been sold under the brand name Vauxhall.

Formally, the second gen Agila was announced on May 15, 2007 and was exhibited at the Frankfurt Auto Show in 2007. This generation was marketed under the nameplate of Splash by Suzuki. The vehicle is 7.9-inch longer than its precursor like the mini MPVs and superminis like Nissan Micra, Honda Jazz, Toyota Yaris and Citroen C3 Picasso.

Both petrol and diesel engine options were provided. The petrol engine choices include a 1.2L 4-cylinder 86 PS and a 1.0L 3-cylinder 65 PS, while the diesel engine option is a 1.3L 4-cylinder CDTi 75 PS with common rail technology.

Agila is offered in 2 variants: Essentia/Base and Enjoy/Edition. In Europe, Suzuki Splash and Opel Agila were produced at the Magyar Suzuki plant in Esztergom, Hungary.
