The Coming of the Juke

In 2010, Nissan, the Japanese Automotive manufacturer came out with the Mini SUV- Nissan Juke. The production version debuted at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2010. It was then introduced through the New York International Auto Show to the North America market.

It made an appearance at the Geneva Motor Show in 2009 as the Nissan Quanza concept car. Following that on February 11, 2009, the company announced that the model will be produced from the Nissan Motor Manufacturing (UK) Ltd plant at Washington, UK. This plant began manufacturing for the European market. The plant at Oppama Japan, manufactures for the rest of the world. It is also the sole supplier of the all-wheel drive variant. The car saw an official launch in UK on September 24, 2010.

Juke becomes a success story in Japan

When the car was launched in June 9 2010, the company gave itself a sales target of 1300 units in the first month. The total orders were 10,943 units in the first month. In the next four months by October 5, 2010 Japan market sales went up to 20,000 and the European and U.S. figures had orders between 30,000 and 17,500 depending on the respective markets. The Nissan Juke is based on the Nissan B platform. After being designed at the Nissan Design Europe, London it was refined finally at Nissan’s Design Centre in Japan.
