Nissan Altima - A competition to mid size Sedans in US market

Nissan is the manufacturer of Nissan Altima, a midsized car and is an extension of Bluebird line from Nissan which started in the year 1957. The car, Altima competes with other midsized sedan in US market mainly against its rivals that are Honda Accord and Toyota Camry and managed to hold second rank in best selling cars in United States.

Comparison with other Nissan models

This model of Nissan is comparably larger, more luxurious and powerful than Nissan Sentra. The car is manufactured completely in the US and officially being sold in South and North America with Middle East countries.

Nissan has many cars being sold in other markets, one being Nissan Teana which has a size that ranges between Altima and Nissan Maxima.

Origination of Altima

In 1986, Altima referred to top trim lines of Nissan Leopard in Japanese market followed by a midsized car, Nissan Laurel that was sold in the Caribbean and Central America before 1992. In the year 1993, Nissan stopped manufacturing Stanza and replaced it with Altima which was compact car.

The first Altima debuted in 1992 for the 1993 model year. All these models were built in Tennessee till 2004 after when Nissan’s Mississippi plan started producing more Altimas to cater high demand.
