McLaren MP4-12C: The Features and Options
McLaren MP4-12C, also known as 12C, is an iconic sports car produced by McLaren Automotive. It was the first production car designed by the company after the roll out of McLaren F1 in the year 1998. The final design of the car was unveiled in the year 2009 and it was ultimately launched in the year 2011.
MP4-12C features a chassis made of carbon fiber composite, and powered by a McLaren M838Tmid-mounted 3.8-L V8 twin-turbo power-train that could generate output power of 616 bhp and develops torsion of around 443 lb·ft.
The car makes use of a Formula 1-sourced "brake steer" technology. Power transmission is done via 7-speed dual-clutch seamless shift gearbox.MP4-12C is one of the distinguished sports cars, and its convertible version is named as Mp4-12 Spider, also popularly known as 12C Spider.
The car is also powered by a 3.8 liter V8twin-turbo engine and designed by McLaren partnering with Ricardo. The engine design is based on the racing engine that is developed by Tom Walkinshaw.
It delivers a whooping output power of 592 bhp and develops torsion of around 443 lb·ft. It has got redline of 8,500 RPM with 80 percent of torsion developed at 2,000 RPM. When the vehicle was announced, McLaren claimed that it would have a higher output power to carbon dioxide emission ratio.
McLaren announced minor improvements for the 2012 version. The new engine details in the 2012 model produces total output power of 616 bhp and there will be no change with respect to C02 emissions that remain at 279 g/km. The total output power has also gone up in the latest 2013 model.
