Mazda RX-7: The Classic Street Car

Mazda RX-7 is a sports car produced from the Japanese automaker from 1978 to 2002. The actual RX-7 is featured with an 1146 twin rotary engine, a rear wheel drive and front mid-ship layout.

RX- 7 is replaced with the RX-3 and later it replaced all the other rotary-engine cars from Mazda except Cosmo.

RX-7 is a unique sports car that comes with a pop-up headlamp. The lightweight and compact Wankel engines are placed slightly behind the front axle. This particular engine configuration is marketed as "front mid-engine" by Mazda.

This 2-seater coupe comes with an optional "occasional" rear seat in the United States, Australia, Japan, and other parts of the world. The rear seat model is marketed as a dealer-installed option for customers in North America.

RX-7 made it to the top ten lists of Car and Driver magazine5 times, and the company has managed to produce 811,634 units of RX-7s to date.

The company made several changes to the revised version of the RX-7. Finally, RX-7 got discontinued in the year 2002. However, it still remains one among the coveted cars in the list of vintage car lovers.
