Mahindra Bolero: Best Selling Sports Car

The Mahindra Bolero is an Indian SUV that can carry almost ten passengers easily. It is available in Non AC and AC variants. It is one of the most popular vehicles in India, used as city commuter, transporter, as well as cargo van.

The basic design is however based on the previous Armada Grand. The 1st generation model was equipped with a Peugeot 2.5Liter IDI engine that could generate 75bhp.

The 2nd generation Bolera was released with very slight modifications with respect to exterior and the major changes are with the engine. You could see a 2.5 L engine introduced for the second generation. And, second gen Bolero was powered by a 2523 cc turbo-charged diesel engine that could pump up 72 bhp. 235/75 R15 Goodyear default Wrangler radials were offered during that generation

When it comes to fuel efficiency, fuel economy of Bolera in City is around 12 km/L and on highways it achieves up to 14 km/L. The engine is coupled with a manual transmission with a four-wheel drive option and there was no- power steering option until the latest generation. Retail price of the vehicle was 6.16 Lakh (ex-showroom) in the year 2006, and it has now gone up to Rs 6.7 lakhs.

On the whole, Bolero is a basic sport utility vehicle, which is well suited to the typical Indian road conditions. Even though it is based on the old platform, the higher ground clearance helps convenient navigation on harsh terrains of the Indian roads. It is equipped with a 2.5 L diesel engine, which packs in enough power punch even during the off-roading trips.
