Lincoln Navigator: A Closer Look

The Lincoln Navigator is a luxury sport utility vehicle built by Ford for Lincoln. The Navigator was introduced for the first time in the year 1997 and released as a 1998 model. It is the first 4-wheel drive capable sports utility vehicle from Lincoln. It shares its mechanical features, equipment and also overall platform with Expedition, which was introduced in the year 1996.

Interior material, unique and upscale styling, and other features are quite different from the Expedition. Navigator is the best and largest vehicle from Lincoln sharing all the components from Expedition. It has got great cargo capacity and can accommodate seven to eight passengers, depending on the model.

For the year 2007, an extended and longer wheelbase version of Lincoln Navigator called Navigator L had been introduced, and for the latter model, one can also find an increased cargo capacity. Right from its introduction, the company has offered only one choice for engine.

The Company had decided the base manufacturers suggested price of USD 42,000 in the year 1998. The Navigator is one of the most popular models with almost 44,000 units sold in its 1st year.
