Kia Carens: Keeping Up A Driving Moment

Kia Carens is a compact MPV introduced by Korean manufacturer Kia and launched in the year 1999. Currently, the vehicle is in its 4th generation, and marketed all around the world with different name plates- most prominently as Rondo.

This particular model was discontinued in the year 2001 in Australia, and the production continued in other countries. In the year 2006, Kia produced a new generation Carens and released it as a 2007 model.

2006 Carens was introduced at the 2005 Frankfurt Auto Show in conceptual form, and the S stands for sporty, smart, and spacious. The Multi-S differs significantly from the production model by including a dual panel sunroof.

The name Rondo is derived from the term “musical Rondo”. Kia Rondo is available as five and seven passenger vehicle in standard 2.4 L 4-cylinder engine, while the 2.7 L V6 engine is optionally available across the two trims.

For Australian customers, the vehicle is available as seven-passenger vehicle with a 4-cylinder 2.0L engine with a choice of manual and automatic transmissions.

Standard features for Rondo vary with local markets, and its long list of features include:

- 16-inch alloy wheels,

- AM/FM/CD play with MP3 playback capability,

- Sirius satellite radio,

- iPod auxiliary jack,

- Power windows, air conditioning unit, and door locks.

The other safety features include side curtain air bags, ABS, 4-wheel disc brakes, Electronic Stability Control, door locks and power windows, tire pressure monitoring system, tilt steering column, and child safety door locks.
