Hyundai Verna is also known as the Hyundai Accent in South Korea. It is one of the subcompact cars produced by the company. The first generation models were manufactured between 1994 and 2000.

In the year 2000, Accent got discontinued and Verna replaced the Accent in South Korean market. However, in other overseas markets, Accent label was retained. For instance, Verna was marketed in the US as Hyundai Accent, but in Indian markets, Hyundai markets Verna as a completely different car, rather than a rebadged version of Accent.

Initially, the Accent was produced for the Chinese market by Hyundai Co., Beijing. In Mexico, Chrysler markets the Accent as Dodge Attitude and the previous version of Verna by Dodge.

In Venezuela, Chrysler marketed Accent as Dodge Brisa until 2006. Brisa was assembled by Mitsubishi Motors at Barcelona plant. Accent is the longest small family car retailed in North America. It is sold as Hyundai Brio in Puerto Rico. The 4th generation Accent was the best selling vehicle for the year 2011 and sold as Hyundai Solaris.

In the year 2008, Accent was named as one of the most dependable sub compact car. In Australia, it was the most popular and the 3rd best-selling vehicle for the years 1996 and 1998.
