The Family Sedan
The Hyundai i40 is a sedan that is being promoted as a large family car. It has been specially designed for the European market by the Hyundai the South Korean car manufacturer. It is based on the same platform of Hyundai Sonata for the US market.
Launch and Availability
This large family sedan was unveiled at the Barcelona Motor Show in 2011. It is being sold as a separate model by the name of Sonata in some markets such as US where i40 is not available.
The i40 was launched as estate variant in September 2011 in Europe and South Korea and the sedan variant was launched in January 2012. The same model is also made available in New Zealand and Australia.
Power-Packed Performance & unique features
I40 is available in four engine options such as one 1.7L diesel engine with 114bhp and 134 bhp option and three petrol units with 1.6L:133 bhp, 2.0L:175bhp and GDI that is 2.0L:164bhp also called as MPi petrol version.
- It also comes with a unique feature and that is a BluDrive option that allows intelligent Stop & Go also called as ISG or start-stop system.
- It also offers 16inch rolling resistance tyres that helps in the reduction of CO2 of about 113g/km.
