Hummer H3: For The Adventurous

Hummer H3 is a sport utility vehicle manufactured and produced by Hummer in the year 2005, but it was fairly short-lived, and discontinued in the year 2010. It was completely based on GMT355, GMC Canyon, and Chevrolet Colorado. H3 was produced at Louisiana factory in Shreveport. It was also produced at Port Elizabeth in South Africa. It is the smallest among all the models across the lineup and the first Hummer vehicle produced by General Motors.

Hummer H3 was offered in two different body styles-the traditional midsize pickup truck and the traditional midsize SUV, named as H3T.

Initially, the H3 was powered by a 3.5L5-cylinder L52 engine that could deliver total output power of 220-horsepower and develops torsion of about 225lb.ft. The power-train was coupled to a 5-speed manual gearbox, while 4-speed auto transmission was optionally available too.

In the year 2007, the power-train was replaced by a 3.7L engine that generated 242 HP and developed torsion of about 242 lb·ft. However, the total engine details were fine-tuned during the year 2009.

After revising the engine details, the overall performance of the vehicle was changed. With straight-5 engine, the vehicle is capable of achieving combined fuel efficiency of 15 miles per hour.

For 2008, the power-train was available with sole auto transmission. A 5.3-liter LH8 engine produces 300HP of power, and develops torsion of around 320lb.ft.

The Alpha model delivers slightly lower fuel efficiency with an estimated 13 mpg in the city and 16 mpg on highway, with a combined fuel average of 14 mpg.
