Fiat Seicento: Where to Get Your First Car?
The Type-187 Fiat Seicento is a city car produced by the Italian carmaker and was introduced for the first time in the year 1997. The car was released as a replacement for Fiat Cinquecento. Seicento was based on the Fiat Punto platform and did not offer much when compared to its previous versions. The company had used the same engine and chassis for Seicento. It had gained a minor 9 cm length.
The overall design remains the same as that of the first generation and the company kept the same 3-door hatchback style, instead of 5-door minivan MPV. Usually, we’ll see these 5-door minvans on Japanese and Korean city cars like Suzuki Wagor R and Daewoo Matiz. Like its previous models Polski Fiat and Cinquecento, Seicento was built in Tychy Fiat’s factory. Right from 1998 to April 2004, the company managed to produce almost 1.1 million units of Seicento.
The name “Seicento” comes from an Italian word. It was the successor of Fiat 600 and it was rebadged as 600 to celebrate 50th anniversary of the actual version.
Seicento is powered by two engine options: the older 900CC engine can generate 40 hp of power. This engine type was used in earlier SX and S models. You can also see an 1108cc engine present on the sporting version. The technology used over here is the multi point fuel injection system and it replaced the older push rod unit. There is a special electric engine used in one of the variants.
