Dodge Caravan: The Sophisticated Mini Van

Dodge Caravan is a minivan released by Chrysler Group LLC for the first time in the year 1984 under the Dodge brand. It was released with the other nameplate-variant, the Plymouth Voyager.

In the year 1987, Grand Caravan with long-wheelbase was released and sold along with the older short wheelbase model. Later, the short wheelbase model was discontinued in the year 2007. Since 2008, the van has been sold under Grand Caravan nameplate.

Other nameplate variants under Voyager include Volkswagen Routan released in 2008 and the up market Chrysler Town & Country released in 1989. The company manufactures and sells all its minivans across the globe.

At present, Caravan and its sibling vehicles, Grand Voyager (also known as Lancia in Europe) and Chrysler Town and Country are being sold as separate vehicles. However, there are many speculations that all the minivans are sold under one single nameplate and it again depends on the region.

Right from its introduction, Chrysler minivans have outsmarted other minivans in the United States. In the year 2004, the company had introduced an anniversary edition package on higher SXT models, including color moldings, chrome wheels, unique fender batch, and other interior accents.
