Dacia Duster: The Expert’s Car?

Dacia Duster launches officially

The Dacia Duster was officially launched in the 2010 Geneva Motor Show by the Romanian Manufacturer Dacia. It was initially introduced as the ice racing version for the Andros Trophy. It was first presented on November 17 2009. It was presented to the media on December 8 2009, before being officially launched in March 2010. The Dacia Duster is known by the name of Renault Duster in India, Russia and South America.

Mechanics of the Dacia Duster

The Dacia Duster is based on the B0 platform. It is 4.31 meters in length, 1.82 meters in width and has aground clearance of 210 mm. The car has a luggage space of 475 litres. Moreover the rear bench seat can be folded and tipped forward which increases the space to exceed 1600 litres.

The Duster comes with both a two- wheel and also a four-wheel drive. The 4x4 variants use the Nissan’s all-wheel drive system. This allows the driver to choose from three different driving modes. The Auto mode engages the rear wheel drive automatically in case the front wheel loses grip. The Lock mode ensures that 50% of the torque is consistently fed through the rear axle. The 2WD mode ensures that the transmission gets locked into front wheel drive to maximize the cars fuel efficiency.

Dacia Duster undergoes a facelift

September 2013 will see the new Dacia Duster on roads. The front end will have chromed grille and redesigned headlights. There will be restyled roof rails, 16 inch wheels and redesigned rear wheels. The interiors will have similar design and features as the ones on the previous years’ new model line up for Dacia. It is slated to premier at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
