Chevrolet Cruze: Getting A Fun Drive

Chevrolet Cruze - introduced through a joint venture

The General Motors Company manufactured and brought into market the Chevrolet Cruze across two unrelated models. The original iteration was manufactured under a joint venture with Suzuki in Japan as a subcompact hatchback during 2001-2008.

The Cruze in different avatars in countries worldwide

The Cruze has always been heralded as the globally developed, designed and manufactured 4-door compact sedan. It was only in 2011 that a 5-door hatchback variant was introduced. It was named the Holden Cruze in Australasia and Daewoo Lacetti Premiere in South Korea from 2008-2011. The new generation model replaces the Daewoo Lacetti sold internationally under various names and the Chevrolet Cobalt which is present only in the North American market.

With the commencement of production of the Chevrolet Cruze in US, General Motors slowly phased out its production of Cobalt and Pontiac G5 in 2010.
