Chevrolet Beat: Drive Like There’s No Tomorrow

Curtains were pulled down in style to reveal the Chevrolet Beat at the happening New York International Auto Show in 2007. Two other cars that were unveiled alongside were the Trax, and the Groove. The structural design is taken from the Daewoo Kalos with the three door hatchback concept and front drive. The car is designed by GM Daewoo at South Korea and manufactured in India. It has an automatic transmission gear that is powered by a 1.2 L gasoline engine that is turbocharged.

Offbeat Exteriors and Tapered Profile

The Chevrolet Beat has its exteriors done up in a Vertigo Green shade that continues into the interiors. It has a profile that tapers down evenly towards the front of the grille but at the rear it is high. The LED-type headlights are huge and extend right from the bottom part of the grille to the windshield base. The wheels are huge and have a radius of 17 inches. The disc breakers are also painted green and can’t be hidden despite the huge wheels. The twin taillights are also LEDs and cover a large area that extends all the way up to the backup lights.

Voted as Most Popular Car in GM’s Lineup in 2007

During the early 2007, a poll was conducted by General Motors to test the popularity of the different vehicle concepts, which included Trax and Groove apart from the Beat; and saw that the results showed the Chevrolet Beat gauging a whopping 50% of the votes. This overwhelming response got the company to decide on producing the car.

The design of Beat was specifically meant for the young buyers in the urban market. The car speaks volumes about the excitement, diversity and energy of the urban life. Apart from being extremely good-looking, it offers fuel economy and is a complete value for money package.

GM then unveiled a prototype at the 2010 Paris Motor Show called Chevrolet Spark, which on to production phase soon enough.
