Chery QQ: Is It Worth The Buying?
The Chery Manufacturers from China rolled out their first car in 2003 of codename S11). Their new supermini version named the Chery QQ6 was launched in 2006. It’s tough to figure out which Chery QQ one is referring to because all of the four models of Chery are named Chery QQ. It could also refer to the original QQ mini, the QQ6 when there is a mention made of Chery QQ cars.
Being one of the most reasonably-priced cars, it happens to be very popular in China especially 2008 QQ version, when the QQ was named the cheapest car produced in the world.
QQ is the top-selling of all the Chery models; the company calls their brainchild QQ, ‘a legend in the Chinese history of the automobile industry; a mini model with the highest cumulative sales in China’.
In 2010, the popularity of the QQ dropped sharply with its name being dropped from the list of bestsellers that the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers yearly compiles. Though the popularity has drastically fallen, it always remained cheap.
The cheapest QQ model costs around USD 4000. In the late 2000s, Chery went through an ugly phase of dispute with GM, which was later resolved. In 2011, Chery revealed its somewhat redesigned model at the Guangzhou Auto Show, but it hasn’t been able to regain its popularity quite yet.
