Audi A4: What Makes It The Best Family Car?
The Series of Audi A4
Audi, a subsidiary company of the Volkswagen Group, built the compact executive car A4 in four generations. They based all of them in the Volkswagen’s B platform. Audi 80 was succeeded by the first generation A4. The internal numbering of the car showed that the manufacturers took it as an extension of the Audi 80. The initial A 4 was designated as the B 5 series. This was subsequently followed by the B6, B7 and B8. The current B8 A4 is based on the Volkswagen MLB platform. This is a common platform which has been used in many models of Audi and also one Porsche model.
The design of A4
The A4 had a longitudinally oriented engine at the front. It had transaxle type engine mounted at the rear of the engine. Some of the cars have front wheel drive. Some of them had the Quattro all wheel drive.
