Acura TSX: Is It Worth The Hype?

Acura launched an entry-level luxury car, TSX, which was launched as the 2004 model in the year 2003 with a restricted supply to the Canadian and the US markets only. The market base was extended to the Mexico until 2009, being sold in the Puerto Rico and the Guam markets.

Market and Replacements in the Acura model line

After the termination of the Integra Sedan in 2001 in the markets of the North America, Acura RSX replaced it in the market as an entry-level 4-door sedan. Acura TSX served as a replacement for the RSX model under the luxury marque of the Acura. It also replaced the Integra Sedan in the Canadian market in 1996.

TSX served as the smallest car in the model line of the Acura during the period 2008 to 2013, except the CSX model, based on the Civic platform, which was sold in the Canadian markets only. Based on the platform of the Civic, the ILX model was launched by the company that replaced the TSX model in the US and the CSX model in the Canada as the smallest car. All the cars belonging to the TSX model were built in Japan, Sayama and Saitama.

The TSX model has been launched as a badge-engineered model of the CL-series Accord and was sold in the markets of Japan, Europe, New Zealand, Australia and South Africa. Initially launched with a restyled interior, the suspension of this model is tuned differently than the European Accord. Since 2008, the company standardized the interior in all the markets.

The European Accord and the American Accord are subsequently launched in the markets of New Zealand and Australia in the categories of small car and large car respectively. The TSX model is sold along with the Acura TL in the North American market as a mid-size car.

In the Chinese market, the Accord Euro is known as Honda Spirior, where it is produced by the Dongfeng Hinda, since its launch in 2009.
