Sales in Brazil plummet 10.77% in January

The National Federation of Motor Vehicles (Fenabrave) announced consolidated figures of the Brazilian automotive market in the first month of 2014. According to the entity data, there was a decrease of 10.77% in sales of cars and light trucks in comparison with December 2013.

In total, 299,768 units were licensed in January, compared to 335 948 last month of last year. If the comparison is made with January 2013 (296.852), on the other hand, there was a slight increase of 0.98%.

Fiat Goal and maintain leadership

Regarding automakers, Fiat opened in 2014 with the largest market share in the country: 21.03%. Volkswagen and General Motors, with, respectively, 18.42% and 17.98%, coming in sequence. The Top 5 is completed by Ford (9.80%) and Renault (7.24%).

Meanwhile, among the models, the VW Gol follow in the first place, with ample clearance. In January, 21,671 copies were traded, well ahead of second-placed Fiat Uno, with 13,629 units. The Ford Fiesta remains in the top positions, with 13,179 registrations, followed by Fiat Palio (12,603) and Fiat Strada (12,373).
