Renault Smart share up to 70% of the components

The new Renault Twingo will share up to 70% of its components with the Smart ForTwo and ForFour models that were presented during the Geneva Motor Show in early March.

Even sharing parts, both vehicles will have no resemblance. The ForTwo will keep its iconic shape, while the ForFour is inspired by the concept Fourjoy.

According to information, the models will be smaller than the Smart minicar for Renault, 3505 mm (FouFour), 2692 mm (ForTwo) against 3581 mm (Twingo).

Daimler and Renault are jointly developing three car, which uses the same platform and the internal combustion engine of Renault. The Twingo is available with two propellers, an ESA 70 3-cylinder 1.0-liter aspirated petrol and 69 horsepower. And the other is TCe 90 3-cylinder 0.9 liter turbo with 89cv. It is speculated that Smart will offer an electric version of the models.

The new ForTwo and ForFour will be launched during the European summer, before the Paris Motor Show in October, with sales later this year.
