Mercedes-Benz displays GLA in Brazil

Mercedes-Benz displays GLA in Brazil

It was to the drums of Rosas de Ouro that Mercedes-Benz showed the GLA in Top Night event held last Tuesday, January 29th, in S?o Paulo. The samba school, which for the second consecutive year will bring the sponsorship of the German mark in the Carnival, packed the development of the compact SUV, presented by the president of the company in the country, Philipp Schiemer, and actress Sophie Charlotte.

The choice of soundtrack was not by chance: the brand was keen to pay tribute to Brazil, since domestic production of GLA is expected to start in 2016. Beyond the SUV, the new C-Class will also be produced in Iracem?polis, S?o Paulo plant.

With 4.42 meters long, 1.80 meters wide and 1.49 meters tall, the GLA is 13 cm longer 2 inches wider and 5 inches lower than the Class A model in which it is based. Although it is sold as an SUV, the model has essentially urban vocation, without many skills to tracks off-road. The sporty design has bold strokes, reflecting the attempt of Mercedes-Benz to attract a younger audience than the current. This strategy is adopted in the entire line of compact cars the brand also formed by CLA sedan (recently launched in the country) and the aforementioned Class A.

The display unit had a manual gearbox, but the units brought here to be sold only with automatic transmission. Although it has not yet been released either in Europe - sales begin in March - the GLA should get to Brazil in the second half of this year, possibly in the last quarter, in time to be one of the attractions of the Motor Show in Sao Paulo, will happen in October. The SUV will be imported from Europe until the beginning of the national production. Their version of the GLA entry should be 200, which adopt the same 1.6-liter turbocharged 156 hp 200.
