Ford starts production of EcoSport in Thailand

Thailand is the fourth country to produce the new EcoSport. The SUV will be produced in Rayong plant, according to Ford. Apart from Thailand, the SUV is made in Brazil (Northeastern Complex), India (Chennai) and China (Chongqing). The automaker expected the car to be launched in over 100 global markets.

The Thai model will supply local and other Southeast Asian market. "The new EcoSport follows the renewal of our product line, leading to all Southeast Asian markets other vehicle in the segment leader to serve consumers," said Matt Bradley, president of Ford in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

The EcoSport sold there will be offered with the 1.5 engine TiVCT petrol and automatic transmission option PowerShift six-speed manual or five-speed. The car was the first global project entirely developed by Ford in Brazil. The second will be the new Ka, whose Brazilian market launch will happen this semester.
