BMW shows new charger to full charge battery in minutes

One of the biggest problems that still causes resistance among drivers who want to have an electric vehicle, besides the price, is the time it takes to completely fill your batteries, which can be measured in hours.

The solution may be in sight, according to BMW and its head of corporate communications for BMW i models. Weiland Bruch says that the Bavarian automaker is preparing a charger Direct Current (DC) with much faster technology that has the potential to reduce the load time of several hours with Chargers Current Alternating Current (AC) to just minutes .

"We will make an announcement soon, so pay attention," Bruch said, without disclosing details.

Bruch also made a reference about the battery hatch the BMW i3, stating that the demand exceeded expectations in Europe, selling out even before sales begin in the United States next month, and in China in June, with customers' requests already in the queue for the next six months.

"Clearly we do not want people waiting five or six months for their cars and how we launched in more markets, we have to think about increasing production," he said.

Currently, BMW is producing 70 units per day in the i3 Leipzig plant.
