Alfa Romeo's new platform will be called Giorgio

Alfa Romeo is working on a new plan to revive the brand. And, according to a report published by the Automotive News website, one of the key points in this process is the development of a new platform, which, it seems, will be called "Giorgio".

The architecture is being designed by a team of engineers led by Philippe Krief, at the headquarters of Maserati, another trademark of Chrysler Fiat Automobiles. The platform should raise vehicles with rear-wheel drive and all wheel drive, not just the Alpha, but possibly also of Chrysler and Dodge.

Thus, Alfa would be launched once again in contention to regain lost market share in recent years. In 2013, the brand fell by 28% in sales, with a total of 64,415 cars sold, the lowest since 1964.
